General Introduction
bmi cargo is a division of bmi (British Midland), which is the UK's second largest scheduled service airline. Its main operational base is London Heathrow. In July 2000 bmi joined the world's biggest grouping of like-minded airlines, the Star Alliance. In addition to an extensive network of UK domestic and Continental European routes, bmi offers long-haul services from Heathrow to several Middle East destinations.
In January 2007, bmi bought British Mediterranean Airways (BMED) a British Airways franchise partner, and as a result has gained access to new markets in Africa, Middle East and Central Asia that were served by the carrier. BMED was fully integrated into bmi on 28th October 2007. bmi has been represented by IAS for more than two decades.
